A dietician emphasize the importance of good nutrition and its effects on the health of a person.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, organizing and directing all activities of food services in hospitals and other institutions, so that people obtain their nutritional needs
  • Discussing with and guiding people to understand and plan for specific dietary needs to improve and / or maintain health
  • Counselling people with particular nutritional problems such as obesity, underweight or illness (i.e. Diabetes), which require special diets
  • Teaching sessions for other health professionals on new findings in the area of nutrition
  • Working closely with the other health professionals in the institution
